About Maui
Maui, “The Valley Isle,” offers picturesque beauty, with gorgeous beaches, sprawling sugar cane and pineapple fields, lush rainforests, and the majestic, once-active volcano, Haleakala.
Maui’s two largest towns, Kahului and Wailuku, are situated between the West Maui Mountains and Haleakala. Kahului is the site of Maui’s major airport, as well as shopping malls and department stores. Wailuku, the seat of Maui County, hosts historic buildings, museums, and a captivating view of Haleakala.
At the southwestern foothill of Haleakala is Kihei, a budding seaside resort town and one of the fastest growing areas in Hawaii. Kihei is sunny and ideal for beach activities. Wailea is a neighboring resort town, with world-class hotels, golf courses and more beaches.
The famous “Road to Hana” is a 52-mile winding stretch of highway that leads to the small, quaint town of Hana. Along the way, lush rainforests, bamboo groves and cascading waterfalls enchant and relect the island’s natural beauty.
Whale watching is a popular activity, especially in Ka’anapali, on Maui’s west coast. And the island, as a whole, offers plenty of year-round ocean activities, including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking.
